Let’s dive in and look at 5 Shows On Netflix You Need To Watch:

Stranger Things

You’ve probably heard someone talking about just how good Stranger Things is, and if you haven’t, where have you been?  Stranger Things is a Science fiction horror show created by the Duffer Brothers. It follows strange goings on in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the early 1980s.

The series is a must for fans of geek pop culture as it takes you on fun journey paying perfect tribute to the era it’s set in. Filled with interesting characters that are likely to feature heavily this Halloween, Stranger Things had me from its first scene, which featured a bunch of kids playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons.

What happens from here on out is a mystery thriller as you unravel the story of the enigmatic Eleven, who manages to reach you on so many levels, even with no dialogue.

Stranger Things is probably one of my favorite shows in recent time and a second season is due for release shortly. This is the perfect show for Stephen King fans and lovers of 80s nostalgia.

Making a Murderer

Making a Murderer is a documentary series that is not for the faint-hearted. It’s a story of a man twice convicted of crimes he swears he didn’t commit. Having already been relieved of charges once Steven Avery faces the law and a jail sentence once again.

This series sent me down a rabbit hole and is sure to have you question if the justice system truly works for everyone. Without giving away spoilers, this series is both hearts and gut-wrenching and has pure moments of unbelievable tension. Here is a series like never before, and just when you think it can’t get any worse, you’re shocked to your core.

If you are like me and you love a good crime documentary, then this is a great one to get stuck it to. This is genuinely one of the most shocking and disturbing series I have ever watched, and one I’ll never forget.

Personal fav! -Ed

Narcos follows the story of the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar and chronicles his life of crime. As the anti-hero of the story, Escobar is enigmatic and likable. Following various agents and forces trying to catch him becomes an exciting and suspense-filled adventure.

You will be hooked on Narcos before you know it and find yourself spending your weekends binge watching it. It’s often funny and deals with the subject matter in a respectful way, if not surely embellishing the story at times.

Finding out how Escobar came to power is not only a history lesson worth learning but a fascinating and frightfully menacing story. Moura as Escobar does a great job of having you both love, hate and to a degree, understand him.

It’s a series of foundations of solid writing and solid acting. If you’re a fan of the fantasy that can be the media portrayed underworld, then you will definitely find some ground with Narcos.

Black Mirror

One of my favorite shows of all time and also one of the most unique and different series entertainment has to offer. Black Mirror is a series set in a fictional world that focuses on technology. It’s a mirror of our own world, where each episode in its 3 seasons is different.

Black Mirror tells excellent, mystery-filled stories with excellent writing and great acting. It’s a series that constantly asks questions about technology and where we could be heading as a society. Not only that, but some episodes are just outright weird.

If someone asked me to recommend a show that’s different to everything else, Black Mirror would be my first suggestion. There’s an obvious comparison to shows like The Twilight Zone, but Black Mirror goes in a different direction entirely, I feel.

This is for anyone who likes something a little bit different. It’s not so heavy on the Science Fiction but has elements of it. Make sure you check this one out as a new season is planned for next year.

Orange is the New Black

Orange is the New Black will take you on a journey. It’s terrific throughout and its characters are equally compelling. Filled with humor and heart-wrenching moments, you follow Piper Chapman who has been sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Penitentiary. As she evolves to her new prison life and her stereotypes challenged she learns to somewhat enjoy her new inmate lifestyle.

Filled with corrupt wardens, drug smuggling, and overcrowding, the show tackles some real themes that resonate with the justice system today. Orange is the New Black has plenty of graphic scenes, so this one isn’t for the kids.

Without having been to jail myself, Orange is the New Black seems to tell a truthful story filled with the entire range of human emotions. It is vividly brought to life in a world where a stick of gum could ignite either a romance or a death threat.

For all the humor and laughs this is a serious show, one with real women, with real problems - no damsels in distress. For anyone looking for something with a bit of a kick and a touch of humor, this one is for you.

Constantly threatening to write a book, but always with a story to tell. Tom has a typical northern English soul. He may sound as mundane as Jon Snow, but at least he tries to articulate. Lover of video games, comics, geek pop culture and wishing he could play Dungeons & Dragons.
