Destiny 2 Free to Play On PC During Open Beta

Destiny fans, you’re in for a treat next week! Blizzard announced that during its open beta, PC gamers will be able to play for free to help test out the upcoming blockbuster game. Curious how you can get in on the action? Here’s what you need to know:

August 28th

Starting August 28th, gamers who have pre-purchased the PC version of Destiny 2 will get into the Early Access phase and be able to get into the game at 10 am PST. If you bought your pre-order from Blizzard’s site, then you should already have it in your account and have your access license. If you didn’t get it directly through Blizzard, no worries. Check the Destiny site here to get your beta set up.

August 29th – 31st

If you’re not quite sure that you want to buy Destiny 2, then you can always wait until August 29th and join the free open beta. It will begin at 10 AM PST on August 29th and go until August 31st. While it is only a couple of days, it should easily show you what you will be missing out on when the game releases.

Installing the Beta

If you’ve bought your copy through another site than Blizzard, make sure that you check the link above for beta instructions. However, if you bought it through Blizzard, here is what you need to do so you’re ready to play:

  1. Download the Blizzard Battle.net desktop app here and install it

  2. Launch the app when it’s ready

  3. If you don’t have a Blizzard account, create a free one

  4. Once you’re into your account, click on the “Destiny 2” icon that will be on the left side of the Battle.net app

  5. When the beta is available, you’ll select the region that you’re in (such as America, Europe, etc) and click Install

  6. The game will install the beta client and you’ll be ready to go in no time

It really is that easy – even if you haven’t pre-ordered. I would highly recommend that you take the time to check the game out during the open beta. You never know, you may end up loving the gameplay and mechanics on top of the amazing graphics.
