List of Game of Thrones Video Games

If you’re a mega Game of Thrones fan, like I am, chances are that you’ve seen a ton of different GoT themed goodies out there. From clothing to weapon replicas, action figures to cutting boards, if you can think it, you can find it. However, there are also a ton of great games out there that are all Game of Thrones related. These are not all video games either, with some even taking on our favorite old school board games and taking them over. So, I figured I’d throw out some awesome Game of Thrones video games that you should check out before this season is over:

Game of Thrones

This 2012 release follows the first season of the show. However, you don’t get to play as any of the main characters. Instead, you play two different characters and switch back and forth during the game: Alester Sarwyck and Mors Westford. Both are knights serving houses that are loyal to the Lannisters. Both come upon different circumstances that cause them to dump that loyalty. Depending on the choices that you make, the outcome can mean death or you walking away at the end. The story takes you through the game, meeting up with your favorite characters in the show. You can find this for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Game of Thrones Ascent

Released in 2013, this video game is for mobile only and can be found on Facebook, iOS and Android. You play as a head of a smaller house and have to swear allegiance to one of the greater houses. It is a strategy/role-playing game that offers point and click casual play as well. You’ll build and maintain an army of Sworn Swords, complete quests, make decisions that determine your alignment and you can also play in PvP games. Join an alliance and play against other alliances as well, which adds a new aspect to the PvP play. The great thing is that this follows the show and there are updates after each airing.

Want to play it? Get it for iOS or Android here.

Game of Thrones 2014 Release

In 2014, this title released for almost every possible platform: Xbox 360 and Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and 4, PC, Android, iOS and OS X. It is from Telltale Games and available as a digital download. This installment is a point and click game, where you interact with NPCs, items and more around the game. You’ll play as five different characters and the decisions that they make all influence how the outcome of the game is for you. The game has tons of characters that you know and love (or hate) and those actors have done the voice work for the game, making it even better. There are also other characters that you will meet that are not in the show, so you will have a whole new set of faces to learn. The game is set in six different episodes for you to play through.

More to Come

There are a couple new Game of Thrones games that are in the works right now as well. For example, Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms will be a MMORPG that is being developed through Bigpoint in collaboration with HBO. Hopefully, it will be better than the other MMORPG games that have come out due to a show or movie.

Game of Thrones: Seasons Two is going to be the follow up to the Telltale games first title. It will contain a second season broken into episodes like the first game. However, no release date has been announced yet. As soon as these other games release, you can bet that I’ll be playing them.
