Xbox One X and Project Scorpio Now Available for Pre-Order

The big news this weekend from Microsoft was the announcement that the new Xbox One X and the Xbox One X “Project Scorpio” is now out for pre-order. I know there are a few gamers in my house excited about this announcement so I figured we’d better share it here on BeepWee too. Here’s what you need to know so you can get your pre-order in asap:

Microsoft announced at their Gamescom press conference on August 20, 2017, that the Xbox One X is now up for pre-order. You’ll be able to pre-order the console from Amazon or GameStop and it will set you back $499 before tax. The great news is that you’ll be able to play all of the Xbox One games with crazy improvements on the frame rates and resolutions. If you already own an Xbox One S, then you already know how amazing the games look now; so knowing that they’ll look even better is insane.

With the new frame rates and resolutions, several tech and gaming experts are recommending that people who shell out the dough for the new Xbox One X should also make sure they have a 4K TV to go with it. You won’t get the full effect of the improvements on an older TV and the 4K will only blow you away even more.

Here is one more perk to make you gamers happy if you’re buying an Xbox One X: you can swap all of your content on your Xbox One or Xbox One S to the new console. Microsoft has created their new console to be compatible with the hard drives for the Xbox One and One S. So, all you need to do is plug in an external hard drive from your other console and you can then move the content over to the Xbox One X. All of your games, your saves, your progress and so on will go with it as well. If you have games and content on the internal drive, you can copy it to the new console through a Wi-Fi connection.

Project Scoprio

If you’re waiting for news about the Scorpio, well, Microsoft pulled all the info out about it yesterday as well. The Xbox One X “Project Scorpio” will look different than the normal One X. It has a vertical stand, has a black and graphite textured casing and has the words “Project Scorpio” lit in green on the front.

What’s the Difference?

If you’re curious what the differences are between the Scorpio and the X, well, I pretty much just summed them up in the previous paragraph for you. There isn’t anything inside that’s different. It is purely an aesthetic difference in the two. The cost is the same for both consoles, Microsoft just decided to produce a small number of special Xbox One X’s with the “Project Scorpio” title.

The Holidays are Coming

If you aren’t sure about pre-ordering now, you have a lot to wait for as the holiday season swiftly comes our way. For Lord of the Rings fans, there will be an Xbox One S bundle with the new game “Middle-Earth: Shadow of War” on October 10th, 2017. If you are a Minecraft fan, there is an Xbox One S Minecraft special edition console and controller out for pre-order now. As the holidays approach, there will be more bundles arriving so you can hold out and wait for a bundle with your favorite games if you aren’t ready to shell out the money right now.
