Why Big Fish’s Monthly Game Club is Worth the Price

I’ll be the first to admit that I am fully addicted to games. Games of all types. MMORPGs, casual games, FPS, trading card games – you name it. Throughout my years of gaming, one site that I have firmly fallen in love with is Big Fish Games. They offer thousands of games (no lie) and they also have a monthly Big Fish Game Club that I have been a member of since 2012. Why so long? Because it’s awesome. Here’s what you need to know:

What Does It Cost?

First, let me get this out of the way: it’s a whopping $6.99 a month. That’s it. I spend more than that per week on just random crap that I don’t need, like that extra Monster Ultra Purple energy drink… mmmmm, tastes just like Pixie Stix! Sorry, got off track there. The point is that as far as monthly memberships for a game site go, that’s pretty darn cheap.

What Do You Get?

Next question is, of course, what do you get? Each month, you get a Game Club credit that you can use on the site for any regular game. Games are normally $9.99 for the regular versions and $19.99 for the Collector’s Editions. If you want to purchase a CE, and you’re a Game Club member, then you pay $13.99 instead of the $19.99, or you can use 2 of your Game Club credits for one. On top of that, you also get daily deals on games for $2.99 (sometimes less than that).

You’ll also get early access to new games before they are listed on the site. So, you can check out some of the latest editions of your favorite casual games, new games from companies like Alawar or just check out something new before anyone else. They also have a sneak peek beta program for members that will allow you the chance to test out a game for free for a game company. You’ll get invitations to the Beta Program only if you’re a Game Club member.

If you play any of the hundreds of online games, you’ll also get 30% off of in-game purchases, which comes in handy when they have special deals in your favorite games.

And they offer rewards for those that stay a member for a longer period of time. For those that finish their first full year of membership, you’ll get a cool little Felix the Fish plush. Felix is the Big Fish Game’s mascot.

Trying Games Out Before You Buy Them

So how do you know if you’ll like a game before you spend that credit or other moolah on it? Easy. No matter if you’re a member or not, you can download any game on the site and play it for free for one hour – even the collector’s editions. This gives you a chance to see if you’ll like the game and want to keep playing or if you don’t even want to waste time on it. There are also so many games on the site that it can be hard to decide which one you want.

Buying Games

If you download a game and test it out, then decide that you want to keep playing it – you can easily use one of your club credits. When you click on “Buy” on the game manager, it will give you the option to use your credit or you can buy it outright (you’ll still get a discount on the price).

Monthly Punch Card

The cool thing about Big Fish is that they offer a monthly punch card for club members. When you buy a game, you get one punch on the card for the month. If you buy a collector’s edition, you’ll get two punches. Once you hit six punches during a calendar month, you get a code for a free game. I try to save up some of the credits and wait for holiday sales where Big Fish gives a 50% discount on games and then load up to get my free game. To get that free code, you do have to be a member when you get that 6th punch on your card. (You can see in the screenshot that I don’t have any punches on my September card – yet.)

Types of Games

Big Fish offers games for PC, Mac, Online (or free to play games), Android and iOS games of all types. To help you easily find games that you’ll enjoy, they have a great list of categories on their site, which includes:

Online Games

The amount of free to play online games on the site is amazing. You could easily sit and waste day after day playing them. There are two that I play full-time (as in, I log in at least once a day and play). I have played Bush Whacker 2 for almost 2 years and I’ve played Crusaders of the Lost Idols for over a year. There are also casino games, hidden object games – anything that’s listed in the categories above, you’ll find free to play games on Big Fish Games Online Games.

What Are You Waiting For?

Since I love all different kinds of games, it’s always easy for me to find ones that I absolutely love on the site. I have no doubt that you will find tons you love as well. It’s easy to find online games that have thousands of players and I’ve never found one of their online games to have problems with people in chat. In fact, that is one of the things that I love about the free to play online games on Big Fish, they don’t tolerate crap in chat. So, if you have kids, it’s also a great site for them to be on as well. I highly recommend that you take just a bit of free time this weekend and check out the crazy amount of games that Big Fish Games has to offer. Trust me, you won’t be sorry.
