Both Fortnite and Destiny 2 Will Have Valentine's Events
Valentine’s is getting closer, and a couple of big-name multiplayer titles are preparing special events in time for the holiday. Both Fortnite and Destiny 2 have lots of interesting details to share about their Valentine events. Let’s start with Fortnite.
The special event will start on February 14 and will be playable both in the main game and its free-to-play battle royale mode. First off, players will have two special skins to choose from – the first one looks like a badass living statue of Cupid, and the second one looks like a human-sized psycho bear, the one who can’t handle breakups.
In addition to limited skins, the game will also introduce one new weapon. The Crossbow is there to enable players to “hunt your prey the old-fashioned way,” but it will probably end up being useless, like in PUBG. The Crossbow features unlimited amounts of arrows, and it can be found in chests and on the ground. As for the main Fortnite game, it will get a special Valentine’s questline that will tell “A Love Story, told the Fortnite way.”
The patch (2.5.0), which brings Valentine’s event, is scheduled for February 14. Epic also shared info about the two upcoming patches scheduled to land after the Valentine one, which should bring new stuff to the Save the World mode. The first one (3.0.0) brings Spring it on Event with new store items, “Week 1 of the ‘Spring it On’ questline,” and a complete in-game music overhaul, and the second patch (3.1.0) will improve the Quest Map, introduce changes to player movement called Stamina Part 1, more new items to get in the event store, and “Week 2 of “Spring it On” questline.”
Another multiplayer shooter is bringing special event right in time with Valentine’s. Destiny 2’s special event, called Crimson Days, will bring back The Burning Shrine map from the original game, a special 2v2 playlist designed to be played in couples, along with new loot. The 2v2 Clash combat scenario asks players to “Stay in close proximity to your partner and your abilities recharge at a faster rate,” and if you and your partner “Stray too far, and your enemies will be given a waypoint leading to your location.” and all of you who are forever alone, rejoice because “If you can’t find a partner, don’t worry. We’ll play matchmaker and find one for you.”
As for the Crimson Days rewards, everyone will get both an Illuminated Engram and a Crimson Engram “No matter which activity you play in Destiny 2 during Crimson Days,” with Crimson Engrams being earnable through gameplay and not capped or limited during the course of Crimson Days.
On top of that, Bungie offers five special rewards if you complete the following:
- Complete the milestone “Welcome to Crimson Days” by finishing five Crimson Days matches and visiting Lord Shaxx in the Tower to earn the Fire of the Crimson Days Emblem and the Tirastrella Ghost Shell.
- Complete matches in the Crimson Days Crucible playlist for a chance to earn the Undeterred Exotic Sparrow.
- Complete either the Leviathan Raid or the Raid Lair: Eater of Worlds to claim the Dieselpunk Exotic Ornament for Wardcliff Coil from the final chest.
- Complete the Nightfall Strike during the Crimson Days event to earn the Flaunting Dance Emote.
Crimson Days event starts on Tuesday, February 13 and will end on the next Tuesday, February 20.
