New Upcoming Rocket League Mode: Tournaments
Rocket League is all about competition and the game’s upcoming mode called Tournaments will try to bring game’s competitive side to new heights. The mode will enable players to create and organize bracketed elimination tournaments. All players will have the option to create and join tournaments, and it will see a brief beta test before its official launch during Spring 2018.
The beta event will start on February 21 and will last until February 23, 5 pm PST. All of you who want to test the upcoming feature can download the “Tournaments Beta” version of Rocket League. This version replaces the live version of the game you already have installed but don’t worry; all of your levels, rewards, and other data will be saved.
In order to install the special beta version of the game you should go to your Steam library and right click on Rocket League, choose properties and then click the “BETAS” tab and then choose “Tournaments Beta” from the list. Once you close the window you Steam client will automatically update the game.
Tournaments beta event will have some restrictions including the absence of competitive playlists, and no cross-platform functionality. Once the beta event ends, just go back to the “BETAS” tab and select “None” in order for your game to return to the normal version.
Tournaments aren’t the only new feature Psyonix has in plans for Rocket League in the near future. The studio recently released Rocket League developer roadmap for Spring 2018 that shows new DLC cars, new competitive league launching in February, new fan rewards, and special Spring event during March, new maps as well as many quality of life updates that should hit the game during April.
